I've Been There....Done That

No more crutches.... No more cash....
If I can't 'get real' with myself... Then, I'm meant to crash.

Diets deny.... Which isn't fun.....
Healthy eating.... On a whole wheat bun.

Well, we got through our first week on the 8 Hour Diet and it went very well.  We ate out several times without cheating and so far we still are not eating any processed foods, no Fast Foods, etc.
Last week I mentioned that my sister, Ginny, was on the Diet Revolution Diet, but that was a mistake......she is on The Fast Metabolism Diet.
My loss for the week was 5 lbs., which I am very happy with.  It's going to be more difficult this week because Leon, my husband, is out of town and he is my support.  Hopefully we can support each other through phone calls.
I'm trying to keep myself busy so I don't think of food.
Taking one day at a time. :)

I lost a total of 5 lbs. since Monday and I'm feeling better every day.  Ginny (on the Diet Revolution diet) has lost 6-1/2 lbs. since Monday, so we are both on a roll.

I am not missing processed food at all!

Wow, I can't believe it's taken me this long to get back to this blog.  That's my life has been going with my diet.  Since then I rejoined Weight Watchers, and as usual, I am very successful for the first five or six weeks and then something throws me off.

I was about to start a new diet - "The Diet Revolution" with my sister, which would reset my metabolism, but after reading the whole book and seeing the expense I would incur, I've decided not to take that route.  In the meantime my sister is trying it and I will let you know how she does.

Instead, I ran into a woman (my age - 66) who looked FAB and I asked her how she stays so thin.  She told me that her kids went on this 8 Hour Diet and  they lost weight and she just follows that.  She said she loves pasta and bread and loves it.  I went right out and bought the book and my husband and I decided to give it a try.  You eat within 8 hours and fast for the other 16.  I never thought I would be able to do this since I'm a late-night snacker, but I absolutely love it!!!!!  It's the easiest thing I've ever done.

I don't eat any processed food anymore, no diet sodas, no sugar, no white bread or flour.  I drink at least three cups of hot tea every day and that is also my late-night snack.

I'm never hungry - I no longer get headaches - I have more energy.....and this is only my first week.  To top it all off, I lost 4.2 lbs. since Monday (it's Thursday).  I eat two meals during the day and snack in between, but as I said - it's all healthy.  No artificial anything goes into my body.

I never thought I could live this way, but it is so easy. I highly recommend the book for those that want to lose.

I'll keep you posted on my progess.

Finally - another weigh-in

Okay, I decided to take off one month without weighing in since we were having company throughout July.  I also didn't ride my bike much in July, but I did get some exercise out in my garden digging and planting.
I did eat things that I shouldn't have, i.e., birthday cake, sticky buns, chips, etc., but I tried to eat in moderation and not pig out at any time.  Overall though, I think I ate normally healthy.
Anyway, I was hesitant to start back up at Weight Watchers and get on the scale, assuming that I had gained weight, but to my pleasant surprise today, I weighed in and lost .2 lbs.  I know....it's not much, but at least I didn't gain.....so Woo!Hoo!
So I'm back eating healthy again and I hope on my way to continued weight loss.
What I learned this month:
.  To never give up.
.  Eat what you like, but in moderation
.  Always have fruit on hand for a snack
.  Get up and move around every day
.  Find low calorie snacks to get you though the day.

See you in a week!

Week 13/14 Weigh-In

Since our move to NJ just over a week ago, I haven't weighed in at Weight Watchers so I thought I better find a meeting in NJ and continue on my weight loss journey.  I weighed in today with a loss of 3 lbs......making my total loss 26.8 lbs.  They gave me my 25 lb. charm at the meeting.
I really miss my instructor in Salisbury, MD who was so motivating at every meeting.  I'm not going to get discouraged because this was my first meeting and I plan to go on Wednesday mornings at 8 am and hopefully there will be a different instructor.  Not that my instructor in NJ wasn't nice.....she was......but she couldn't keep the meeting under control, nor did she touch on the important parts of what we were supposed to talk about this week.
WHAT I LEARNED THIS WEEK;
.  That it's hard moving to a different town and state (even though we love it down here)
.  That while you are unpacking and moving you don't feel like keeping track of your food
.  That you can eat cake once in awhile and still lose.
.  That all McDonald's make different size cones (they are my 4 point treats)
.  That it feels good getting in to my smaller size clothes.
.  That I had to bring my bike inside to ride in the mornings since the porch is too hot!

Thanks for all your support!  See you next week :)

Week 12 Weigh-in

Well, I've had another loss....not a big one....down .2 lbs., but at least I lost.  I've gone every weigh-in with a loss, so I'm happy about that.  I haven't been tracking all the time since we have been so busy getting ready to move to NJ Friday, but when I have time, I do track.
WHAT I'VE LEARNED THIS WEEK:
.  That 1 Bob Evans pancake is 9 points (oh my!).  I ate 1-1/2, which came to 13 points and that was without any butter or syrup....so I will stay away from them for awhile (although I thoroughly enjoyed it while it was in my mouth).
.  That the lunch pasta with marinara sauce at Olive Garden is less points than the lunch soup and salad.  I think because of the dressing they put on the salad.  Anyway, for 7 or 8 points, the pasta is great!
.  That restaurants really do give you so much more than you need and I always need a 'doggie bag' now.
.  That Wedding buffets don't have much that we can eat.....
.  That going to my W.W. meetings motivates me to keep going week to week.
.  That I am really going to miss the gang at my Salisbury, MD Weight Watchers meetings.....it's hard to say good-bye.....I was getting so attached. :(

But onward I go......down a total of 23.8 lbs.  My goal this week is to get to - 25 lbs.  I will weigh in in New Jersey for the first time on Wednesday morning......so stay tuned! :)

Week 11 Weigh-in

I didn't get weighed in last week because I was in NJ and I wasn't ready to start a new WW meeting then, so I waited until today to get weighed in MD.

I lost 2.2 lbs., for a total of 23.6 lbs.- Woo! Hoo!  I lost 10% of my weight and I'm not far from losing 25 lbs., so I'm feeing great.  The thing that really makes me happy is that I lost consistently every week - that's a real motivator for me!

WHAT I'VE LEARNED THIS WEEK
.  That even though you are busy, you can still always find the right thing to eat.
.  That the new Brick Oven pizza place we ate at this week was absolutely heaven.   Split a small margharita pizza with Leon - thin crust - FAB!
.  That it's okay to taste a bite of everyone's food if they offer it - it's better to taste than to crave and go out of control.
.  That I can do this to the end and keep doing it for the rest of my life.....I'm eating good and I'm happy.
.  That no matter what time of day it is.....get on that bike and ride!!!!

Thanks to all of my supporters!
